Vale Packaging is a Nova Scotia based packaging company. We manufacture packaging and provide tooling and design services.
Vale Packaging has a vacancy and is currently accepting applications for our Thermoforming Operations & Maintenance Coordinator role. The candidate will become proficient with installing and removing tools and dies in the thermoforming lines. You will also be responsible for setup and starting equipment to ensure good quality parts in an effective and efficient manner. The candidate shall become knowledgeable with the general design, maintenance, and assembly of thermoforming tools and machines. Additionally, you will learn the warehouse requirements to be able to coordinate production in the future.
As our O&M Coordinator you will be responsible to:
- Setup and tune thermoforming machines
- Troubleshoot production issues
- Schedule preventative maintenance, lubrication, and repairs
- Perform minor temperature and cut adjustments during product run
- Coordinate production activities between the Floor Lead, Warehouse, and Maintenance
- Update procedures as needed
- Coordinate special growth projects
Potential applicants should have the following skills and experience:
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Thermoforming or manufacturing experience an asset
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Good troubleshooting & problem-solving capabilities
Specific Skills and Responsibilities:
- Consistent adherence to all plant safety rules and procedures.
- Accountable to set up and operate thermoforming machines to maximum efficiency within established parameters.
- Works closely with operators and recommends improvements to parameters and equipment whenever possible.
- Assist the Designer/Machinist, Operators and Packers in maintaining an efficient operating department, and share troubleshooting knowledge freely.
- Accurately and thoroughly records all necessary data as required. This includes maintenance records sheets as well as the set-up of related documentation.
- Read, interpret and adhere to all set up instructions.
- Coordinates repairs and/or preventative maintenance as required.
- Troubleshoot and identify issues as either mechanical or material related.
- Communicate, cooperate and work effectively with other all shifts and with all maintenance, engineering, and production personnel on a daily basis.
- At times coordinate with the warehouse when space is limited for required loading and unloading shipments..

- Legally entitled to work in Canada (will assist with permits for the right experienced candidate)
