General Description:

Under the direction of the Band’s Security Manager, this position works during the evenings and some weekends to supervise night security staff at multiple band locations, including Hammonds Plains. This position also provides administrative support to ensure paperwork is submitted in a timely manner. Responsibilities:

• Regular onsite visits to various band sites to supervise and ensure band protocols are being followed.

• Write and submit weekly reports to Security Manager including collecting and submitting all paperwork from security staff including incident reports, time sheets, leave requests, etc.

• Act as backup Security Manager during his/her absence.

• Ensure staff schedules are being followed.

• During evening emergency situations respond to the scene, alert additional police and/or emergency personnel as appropriate and inform Security Manager the following day.

• Participate in professional development opportunities and relevant security training.

• Find and schedule night emergency security staff as required.

• Other related duties such as monitoring alarm systems, updating OH&S protocols, responding to alerts, coordinating activities with RCMP, and assisting with the development of security protocols.

Qualifications and Education:

• Must be able to interact well with the public and staff with the ability to de-escalate situations.

• Ability to work independently with little supervision.

• Proficient with computers and written communications.

• Experience supervising staff is preferred.

• Ability to apply and interpret policies and protocols.

• An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

• Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends.

• Knowledge of Indigenous and/or Mi’kmaw communities/organizations.

• Must have a valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle with automobile insurance.

• A criminal records check is required. Having a criminal record is not a determining factor.

Benefits Starting:

$17.00/hour (80 hours bi-weekly) plus travel allowance. This position comes with a variety of benefits including health, dental, disability and life insurance, an employee & family assistance program and an employer pension plan. Proof of Vaccination is required.
