Marketing and Communications Coordinator, 2022 Atlantic Book Awards and Festival
The Atlantic Book Awards Society (ABAS) seeks a creative, self-motivated individual with a strong marketing and communications background to assist with the 2022 Atlantic Book Awards and Festival, slated to take place June 2–9, with virtual and, where possible, in-person events taking place in all four Atlantic provinces.
Under the direction of the ABAS board of directors and working closely with the Festival Coordinator, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will:
· Develop and execute a social media strategy, manage social media accounts, create Facebook events, etc.
· Communicate awards season information to industry stakeholders, including nominated authors, publishers, sponsors, etc.
· Coordinate the shortlist announcement, to take place mid-April
· Develop familiarity with shortlisted books and authors in order to effectively pitch media and identify “hooks” for press releases; prepare press releases and follow up to ensure coverage of festival events and gala
· Work with industry partners (bookstores, other festivals, public libraries, writers’ organizations) to ensure promotion beyond media coverage
· Liaise with CTV, the festival’s primary media partner
· Liaise with video production company on details for virtual gala
· Update and maintain WordPress website throughout awards season
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about promoting Atlantic books and authors, has good relationships with regional and national media, and possesses an extensive media list. Additional assets would be proficiency in French, experience with event curation/coordination, and familiarity with producing/hosting online events.

This is a contract position and will run from March 14–July 8. Salary: $12,500 (contingent on funding).
