Marine Atlantic is currently looking for a Manager Onboard Services to work with our Passenger Services Department located in North Sydney, NS.

The Passenger Services department is charged with all activities that contribute to our customers’ onboard experience and is responsible for the hotel, food and beverage, and gift shop operations including housekeeping of the vessel the crew accommodation and dining experiences of the crew.

The Manager Onboard Services is accountable for leading and directing the Passenger Service Onboard Delivery team in the delivery of a quality, courteous, and efficient service that will enhance the customer’s journey within the annual budget targets.

You will develop and execute an onboard services delivery strategy in an effort to continually enhance the service offerings to our customers while onboard the vessels.

Additional Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead, manage, motivate and develop the Onboard Service Delivery (OBD) team.
  • Lead and ensure the management of Passenger Services staff in accordance with the engagement culture and corporate values within the department.
  • Set clear team objectives that align with the organization’s strategic goals. Monitor progress, conduct regular reviews, provide feedback and provide support in achieving the objectives.
  • Effectively communicate the Onboard Services (OBS) strategy to engage, motivate and ensure effective onboard delivery.
  • Network externally to develop a continuous knowledge of the market- place and anticipate future trends, and remain current with external developments.
  • Actively participate in the development of strategic direction for the vessels.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the service delivery strategy.
  • Develop and implement opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reductions that enhance the company objectives.
  • Work diligently, to promote a physically and psychologically safe working environment, that is diverse, accessible, inclusive and equitable.
  • Assist in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as required.

What qualifications do I need to be considered for this opportunity?

Education and Experience

A degree from a recognized university in a relevant field of study (e.g.

business, hotel and restaurant management).

OR

A combination of equivalent education, job-related training, and work experience in a related position.

Additional Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior service delivery management role; leading, implementing and managing service delivery to a multi-unit operation.
  • Excellent leadership, managerial and motivational skills.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Advanced knowledge of Office applications.

Asset Qualifications

  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Experience working in the Marine Industry.
