CGC Inc. is currently recruiting a Human Resources Representative for our plant, based out of the Little Narrows, Nova Scotia plant and will report to the Director, Human Resources for CGC.

The Human Resources Representative will be responsible for addressing the human resources requirements of the Little Narrows and Windsor quarries in Nova Scotia. The role involves providing guidance and support to managers regarding human resources and safety issues. The incumbent will be accountable for implementing the talent acquisition strategy, managing salary administration, and facilitating employee development. Additionally, they will serve as a resource for employees, addressing their questions and concerns.

Employee Relations: Administer employee relations programs, foster cooperative relationships, maintain effective communication practices, handle complaints, accidents, performance, and disciplinary issues, and coordinate plant engagement plans.

Safety: Serve as the primary safety advisor, ensure adherence to safety rules and regulations, implement the Accident Prevention Program, identify trends for improvement, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, actively participate in case management, and enhance the working environment.

Talent Acquisition: Monitor staffing trends, project staffing needs, develop sourcing strategies, assist with university and college recruiting, manage internal promotions and transfers, participate in interviews, and oversee onboarding activities.

Employee Development / Succession Planning: Identify training needs, deliver training or establish training infrastructure, administer performance management programs, facilitate talent/succession reviews (9-Box), and coordinate diversity initiatives.

Salary & Benefit Administration: Make recommendations on wage, salary, and incentive decisions, oversee the Operator Rate Program, promote and explain benefit programs, assist employees with informed decisions, provide guidance on investment, retirement, and leave of absence programs, and resolve leave of absence issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years human resources experience required, with experience in a manufacturing or mining setting strongly preferred.
  • Capable of delivering training to groups of varying size and make-up.
  • Ability to coach employees and managers.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to provide thought leadership and influence and maintain collaborative partnerships.
  • Strong employee relations focus.
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities. Ability to work independently and with a team.
