Salary Range: $36,400 to $45,000 annually
General Description:
Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist/Admin will be responsible for supporting and assisting a wide range of responsibilities within the HR Department. This may include, but not limited to, the implementation and interpretation of the policies, programs and procedures, recruitment, employee relations, benefits management, and compliance.
This position serves as a knowledgeable resource for employees and management regarding the daily functions of HR within Sipekne’katik First Nation.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the recruitment cycle; job posting, resume screening, scheduling and facilitating interviews.
- Support the development and regular revision of on-boarding materials.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR Databases.
- Coordinate the on-boarding schedule of new employees.
- Review and interpret Sipekne’katik Policies and Procedures to ensure they are following federal and provincial regulations/legislation.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee concerns.
- Assist in the analysis of any metrics, data or statistical information collected by the HR Department.
- Support investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and complaints.
- Assist employees with benefit enrolment, changes and inquiries.
- Assist with HR department audits.
- Coordinate the digitization of Employee Files & Documents.
- Support the training and development for Sipekne’katik Staff.
- Support the overall direction and strategic goals of the HR Department. Supporting and encouraging a high level of confidentiality.
Qualifications and Experience/Skills:
- Post Secondary Education in a related field; Human Resources and/or business Administration; related experience and training will be considered.
- Experience coordinating various projects, events and/or portfolios.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer knowledge.
- Familiarity with database (various software) management.
- Knowledge of Indigenous and/or Mi’kmaw communities/organizations.
- Must have a valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle.
- A satisfactory criminal records check is required.
