RECENT OR POTENTIAL GRADS/CO-OP: Built Heritage Researcher – Dartmouth, NS

Job Title:    Built Heritage Researcher

 Duration:  Early September to mid-December 2023, for approximately 14 weeks

Hours: Full-time position – 7.5 hours per day / 37.5 hours per week (532.5 hours total)

Rate of Pay: $17.50/hour

Location: Downtown Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (accessible by bus and ferry)

Scope: HTNS seeks a researcher to work on a project that will increase attention to and promote the preservation of built heritage across the province. Your work will focus on researching buildings and other forms of built heritage across Nova Scotia identified as benefiting from research to support their preservation, through addition to lists of registered heritage property or other means. You will also participate in a range of activities aiming to engage the public with issues facing built heritage.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Candidate should have strong research, written, and oral communication skills; ability to work independently; attention to detail; familiarity with MS Office Suite and social media platforms, especially Facebook.  An interest in built heritage preservation or material culture is considered an asset; an interest in Nova Scotia history is considered an asset.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be a Canadian Citizen, have permanent residency or have refugee status

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

• Must be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

• Must be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment

• Are not working more than 30 hours a week at any other job while employed with Heritage Trust

• Must be unemployed or underemployed

• May not be receiving Employment Insurance benefits while employed with Heritage Trust
