About the Job:
The Better Together initiative is designed to steward CBU’s commitment to being a place where equity-seeking groups are valued and want to be. This initiative focuses on identification and elimination of systematic barriers that impede the career advancement, recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups. The Project Administration Officer will work with the Project Manager to advance the initiative and identify opportunities to build capacity within the university.
$13/hour, 17.5 hours per week for 16 weeks
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Work with the Project Manager to coordinate an EDI Environmental Scan that includes all faculty and staff.
• Coordinate and host webinars for faculty and staff.
• Support the Project Manager with coordination of EDI learning initiatives.
• Conduct research, and report on EDI initiatives across Canada.
• Participate in the Learning About the L’nu Way learning experience.
• Attend meetings with various university departments and community stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• Must be able to work remotely. Due to current circumstances, CBU employees are presently working from home; a plan may be implemented to return to regular office hours, depending on the progress in Nova Scotia towards eliminating the threat of COVID-19. Remote work will require access to a reliable internet access.
Skills:
• You have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills. You have effective writing and verbal communication skills. You can clearly communicate ideas, plans, and results.
• Research skills. You are comfortable reading reports and consolidating information into actionable items.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
• The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
• International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
