Northside Rising is a local community outreach organization working in Cape Bretons Northside community committed to working to create a more hopeful, healthy, vibrant community for everyone who lives there. To help better understand the community, Northside Rising is conducting community research in the community. INVICTUS: Exploring Hope on the Northside is a mixed methods research project aimed at studying hope, agency, and trust in the community.

We are seeking a temporary contractor to assist with the collection of community survey data during the months of October and November. The successful applicant will be hired as an independent contractor, so all appropriate tax deductions will be up to the individual.

Description:

Community Researchers will work collaboratively with Northside Rising staff and the Research Assistant for INVICTUS to conduct community surveys with members of the community in targeted areas. Although some locations will be scheduled and stationary, the position will include walking throughout community neighbourhoods.

Qualifications:

• Able to work in a team environment with community researchers
• Passion for community involvement and improvement in all areas of the community
• Able to interact confidently with members of the community to conduct community surveys
• Proficient with the use of computers/tablets
• Able to travel to communities on the Northside without difficulty
• Previous knowledge of research methods is an asset

Special consideration will be given to individuals who live in a community on the Northside.
