CBU Event Assistants

Student Pool

We are looking to build a pool of trained students that could fill casual employment or volunteer opportunities required on an ‘as needed’ basis. Duties could include:

  • Set-up/Tear down (room set-up, décor, marketing displays)
  • Registration Table
  • Greeters/Welcome/Directions
  • Assist putting together Swag Bags for large events
  • Servers (food or drink or both)
  • Bar Tenders
  • Runners
  • Tour leaders
  • Ticket Booth
  • VIP Hospitality
  • Parking Attendants
  • Managing invite lists
  • Executing event details
  • Organizing multiple tasks

Attributes/Training:

Outgoing, responsible

Detail oriented

Able to lift, move, carry equipment, set-up

Able to take direction, work independently and as a team

Comfortable engaging with guests/VIPs/Alumni

Familiar with campus, directions

Familiar with Executive (will provide details)

Familiar with campus rules (will provide details)

 

On-the job training:

Once students are selected, they will participate in “CBU Student Employment Training.” This training will include information about the University, locations on campus, expectations and further detailed job outlines. This is to create a pool of well-equipped student casual employees and volunteers.

There may be a test required to display full understanding of concepts and expectations.

 

 

 

Hours of work:

 

Hours of work vary, depending on event needs.  We could require 7am set-up assistance or 9pm event take-down assistance.  Weekend work, especially with athletic events will be required.

Investing in our student employees: 

Hourly rate of pay: $14.00/hr

Students will receive following certificates if they do not already possess these credentials:

 

Serve Right, TIANS Certificate

Food Handlers, TIANS Certificate

Canadian Workplace Essentials, Module 1, Emerit.ca

 

Selected students may also receive:

CBU branded clothing appropriate to the event requirements

Assistance with servers’ uniform, if required
