Manager – Freight and Logistics

M.V. Osprey Ltd. is a leader in the Canadian offshore cold-water shrimp fishery, with its product exported to destinations all around the world.  It’s base of operations is located in North Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Working closely with the CEO, Captain, Production Manager, and Buyer responsibilities will include:

 

  • Identify export destinations with the buyer and coordinate complete logistics chain
  • Negotiate rates and transit with shipping lines and forwarders
  • Coordinate trucking and shipping terminal pick up/drop off
  • Oversee proper practices during vessel discharge and container loading
  • Monitor product sorting and administer quality assurance measures
  • Arrange required health and export certificates with various agencies
  • Coordinate the implementation of an inventory management system
  • Monitor cargo transit and negotiate product storage as required
  • Various administrative duties as required

 

As the ideal candidate, you possess a post-secondary education in Supply Chain and Logistics combined with 5 plus years of experience in a direct or related role. This position requires an original and independent thinker with the ability to operate across multiple functions. Combining advanced team player skills and an excellent work ethic, you have the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Solid computer skills is essential so you must be proficient with Microsoft Office software, with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
