1 temporary full-time position for 8 months intended specifically for students currently enrolled in a business, communications, or related co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program, commencing in September 2021

The Department Strategy Section of the Urban Planning and Economy Department has a terrific opportunity for a business analyst work experience student to join the team.

Not only do you get to be part of impactful and engaging initiatives, within enthusiastic teams, but you’ll also get hands-on experience with service improvement to support city building.  Your days will be full as you help with tasks such as data gathering, research and analysis, project coordination, engagement, training support and more!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Complete data collection, research, process mapping, best practices scans and analysis
  • Undertake project coordination, with supervision, relating to stakeholder engagement and training
  • Create a range of communication materials (ie. presentations, website content, training documents) to support implementation and change management activities
  • Support with automation of tasks to streamline processes
  • Other related duties as required

Note: This position will be a combination of working from home and on-site working conditions. Working conditions will follow the Government of Alberta Health recommendations

Qualifications :

  • Currently enrolled in a business, communications, or related co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program
  • Demonstrated ability using Google Workspace applications
  • Familiarity with business process improvement, process mapping, process management, and performance measurement
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, both oral and written
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the absence of a supervisor
  • Experience with product and service design, web design or graphic design is considered as an asset
  • Experience with Tableau, POSSE, statistical tools or Geospatial tools is considered as an asset
  • Access to high-speed internet while working from home

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Salary: $21.545 – $25.135
