At this time, the Halifax Port Authority (“HPA”) is looking for a Communications Co-op Student (Fall)

A fall student is required for the Communications Department to assist with public relations, communications, social media and administrative duties to support the department’s efficiency and productivity.

The main responsibilities include:
• Gathering content including profiles of employees, tenants and partners for newsletters, reports and social media
• Social media content creation and scheduling
• Assisting in One Port City Day planning and execution
• Helping coordinate, organize and staff public information sessions including community events where the Port participates (MACPASS Miles, others)
Other miscellaneous duties include:
• Reviewing HPA website(s) for current/relevant material
• Categorizing and maintaining a Port of Halifax image/video library
• Providing content for or complete media monitoring summaries
• Assistance with ongoing communications material and other projects as needed
• Other communications duties as assigned

The successful student must be detailed orientated, organized, and thorough, and comfortable working with photography and/or video. The student must also be proficient in: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. A student enrolled in Communications with a focus in Public Relations or a Business student with a focus in Marketing is considered an asset.

The term of this position will be from September 03, 2024 until December 20, 2024.

The compensation for this student position will vary depending on program and year of study. The minimum student rate is $19 per hour.

The successful student will be subject to successfully completing and maintaining a Criminal Record Check and must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Pass (RAP).
