At this time, the Halifax Port Authority (“HPA”) is looking for a Co-op Student, The PIER (Fall)
A Fall student is required for the PIER to support the innovation hub and living lab at the Port of Halifax. The PIER is Canada’s first living lab for supply chain and logistics, with more than 50 members developing, testing and deploying solutions to make Canada’s supply chains more efficient, resilient, transparent and sustainable.
The successful student can come from any academic background with transferable skills and an interest in working in the Living Lab. Responsibilities and tasks will be tailored to a combination of PIER requirements, student experience and student interest. We are looking for a student with an interest in understanding the innovation ecosystem and how as a port community, we can solve problems in our industry.
The main responsibilities include:
• Event coordination support for PIER member day
• Event coordination support for PIER programming
• Project(s) to improve existing member services
• Support as required for PIER programming
• Support for PIER member focused initiatives
• Support for execution of PIER projects which could include sustainability, operations, and innovation.
Other miscellaneous duties include:
• Updating process templates and checklists
• Assistance with day-to-day operations of The PIER, including front-desk coverage
• Other duties as assigned
NOTE: These are only the basic and primary duties; related and allied duties may be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of the PIER. The term of this position will be from September 03, 2024 until December 20, 2024.
The compensation for this student position will vary depending on program and year of study. The minimum student rate is $19 per hour.
The successful student will be subject to successfully completing and maintaining a Criminal Record Check and must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Pass (RAP).
