$18.91 to $23.15 per hour (based on the student’s current academic level)

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS
Duties:
Assist park staff in:
· Constructing and monitoring an Atlantic Salmon counting fence
· Gathering data on Species at Risk in remote wilderness areas
· Measuring and recording biological data;
· Entering data onto computer databases;
· Maintaining, cleaning and repairing field equipment;
· Other biological monitoring and research as required
Essential Qualifications:
Education – Minimum of 1 year of post-secondary studies in Natural Sciences or Natural Resource Management Technical programs.
To be eligible, you must be:
· a full-time post-secondary student in an accredited institution;
· currently recognized as having full-time student status by the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled;
· returning to full-time studies in the next academic term.
Candidates will be assessed on:
· Basic knowledge of local flora and fauna;
· Knowledge of wilderness/remote travel;
· Basic knowledge of computers and data management;
· Ability to measure and record biological data;
· Strives for excellence.
Language Requirement:
English essential.
Conditions of Employment:
Security Screening: Obtain and maintain Reliability Status.
Operational Requirements:
Work may involve handling dead specimens and use of standard zoological preservatives.
Travel in wilderness areas
Work in the outdoors for prolonged periods of time
