Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design is in Unama’ki, the land of fog, the unceded and traditional territory of the Mi’kmaq. The Role

Unama’ki Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design (the Centre) is seeking an individual for the role of Human Resources and Office Coordinator in this co-operative education opportunity. Working directly with the Leadership team this role will support office, HR, and guest experience duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide overall administrative support to the Leadership Team.

  • Human resources-related tasks
  • Administering and maintaining confidential information and records
  • Overseeing and coordinating office administrative procedures
  • Assisting with coordination and organization of department / project meetings, information sessions, events
  • Ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment for departments and projects
  • Tracking finances; payroll; assisting the bookkeeper/accountant with creating financial reports
  • Guest services
  • Liaising with artists

Skills and Qualifications

  • Exercises an understanding of organizational policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Consistent utilization of commonly used computer software including excel, word, power point, and willingness to learn new software
  • Organizational skills to assist multiple employees at one time with various tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate respectfully with others in retail and office environments
  • Attention to detail to submit work or send communications without error
  • Adaptability and flexibility to adjust priorities for whatever task is most important at any given time
  • Ability to handle sensitive information
  • Understanding of accounting software
