Roles we are currently recruiting for:

 

Business Analyst Student, Domestic Transportation

(12 months)

The Analytics & Tactical Solutions team within Domestic Execution supports the daily execution teams managing all inbound and outbound freight within Canada. This team’s mandate is to provide insight into the performance of our operations (cost & service) to enable internal and external stakeholders to make sound business decisions that drive strong customer service to our CTR Associate Dealers within budget. Scope of work includes: reporting & analysis, data visualization, end-user tool development, process mapping & process improvement.

The candidate will be involved in all phases of the development of business solutions, from the identification and analysis of opportunities, through to implementation and ongoing support.

Analysis

  • Analyze various topics as assigned, from the simple to the complex, presenting findings, including key information and issues, as well as potential solutions.
  • Publish regular daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting to various stakeholders including Domestic Transportation teams & leadership, senior management, CTR Associate Dealers, and carrier partners.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and action opportunities to drive down supply chain costs and/or improve service by applying continuous improvement methodologies to Transportation and related processes.

Projects

  • Contributes to identification, analysis, and recommendations of solutions (tools and processes).
  • Works within a team environment to construct, test and implement solutions.
  • Prepares presentations/findings on projects and activities.
  • Present findings, issues and proposed solutions to various stakeholders.
 

Business Analyst Student, Transportation Operational Analysis

(12 months)

The Transportation Operational Analysis Team supports the efficient and effective movement of freight throughout CTC’s delivery network. This support is provided in a number of forms, including; research and data analysis, process improvement projects, carrier rate / contract negotiations support and reporting. The team works closely with the Canadian Dispatch and Carrier Support Team, Direct Ship, Fleet Services, the Transportation Development & Support Team and the Visibility Team, but also has frequent involvement with Planning, Logistics, Distribution, International Transportation, Marketing, Finance and IT.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform in depth analysis of data and develop viable conclusions within the framework of the project.
  • Obtain project relevant information from internal and external sources.
  • Present findings to leadership.
  • Document processes and assist in developing training material.
  • Run and validate reports to gather shipment and forecast data from various sources.

Business Analyst Student, Regional Operations

(4 months)

Regional Operations is the sustaining business owner and the liaison between CTC and the Third Party Logistics (3PL) facility operators, and is responsible for working with the 3PL to ensure operational effectiveness in the 3PL DCs.  The Co-op Student will assist the Regional Operations Team in supporting the 3PLs in physical and process improvements to help them meet and exceed service level and budget targets.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with internal cross-functional groups and 3PL partners to resolve immediate or upcoming issues and target process improvement, including increased productivity
  • Critically assess internal and external processes in terms of impacts, cost and benefit, financial implications, risk, cross-functional dependencies and critical success factors
  • The incumbent will be expected to analyze, explain results, and investigate trends in order provide insight to our business partners, management team, on strategic projects or in other analytical areas.
  • Support strategic decision-making by identifying additional opportunities – determine business processes improvement initiatives and decision making (e.g.  DC operations, Transportation effectiveness, Planning processes); and documenting potential benefits
  • Conduct process mapping and business analysis
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reporting and analysis

Business Analyst Student, Fleet Services

(4 months or 12 months)

The Fleet Services Team is responsible for all aspects of rental and intermodal equipment management and tracking as well as yard and shunting processes including the ownership of our Yard Management Software (YMS), currently Yard Smart.  You will work closely with a team of transportation professionals on a number of processes/projects that are currently underway/pending to improve operational efficiencies and help support the unprecedented volume Canadian Tire is navigating.  The Fleet Services Team works closely with the Canadian Dispatch and Carrier Support Team, Direct Ship, Transportation Development & Support Team and Visibility Team, but also has frequent involvement with Planning, Logistics, Distribution, International Transportation, Marketing, Finance and IT.

What you’ll do:

  • Become knowledgeable and gain experience with CTR processes and systems in order to provide effective solutions for key business partners
  • Planning and communication with cross functional teams to meet deadlines and support projects/processes
  • Work cross-functionally with Senior Management, Transportation, OPC, Logistics, Stores, and Suppliers to provide data and deliver sound business decisions ensuring best cost, quality, performance and reliability factors
  • Perform analytical work to support process improvements
  • Evaluate existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Run and validate reports
  • Obtain project relevant information from internal and external sources.
  • Present findings to leadership.
  • Document processes and assist in developing training material.

  • Data Reporting & Visualization (i.e. Power BI, Tableau, Excel)
  • Strengths in Mathematics and Statistics
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills combined with creative thinking
  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks, setting and tracking own milestones, and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communications skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Familiarity with project management, process analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; Excel and Microsoft Access skills are required
  • Working towards a degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Administration
  • Third year student or above and previous work term experience would be an asset
