Tourism Nova Scotia is looking to hire a student at the Port Hastings Visitor Information Center as tourism ambassador. They must be able to provide proof of status as a full-time student and be scheduled to return to school in the fall.
Tourism Nova Scotia is a private sector-led provincial Crown corporation created to achieve tourism growth in the province and foster a more globally competitive tourism industry. Duties:
Visitor Information Centres (VICs) are one of the first points of contact for many visitors to Nova Scotia. The Student Tourism Ambassador will play a key role in making our visitors feel welcome, presenting a positive image of Nova Scotia, and providing customized trip planning assistance and customer service to visitors travelling throughout Nova Scotia.
They will demonstrate an ability to: deliver extraordinary customer service; an interest in developing personal knowledge of Nova Scotia’s tourism products and experiences; and a true passion for Nova Scotia. Student Tourism Ambassadors will strive to exceed the expectations of our visitors while inspiring them to experience more of what Nova Scotia has to offer. They will also motivate our visitors to return and create positive word-of-mouth marketing; ensuring our visitors recommend Nova Scotia as a travel destination to their friends and family.
Qualifications:
In addition to the conditions of employment, the student must be in enrolled in full time studies for the upcoming school year. Students should be able to demonstrate strong organizational skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and tourism industry experience is preferred. Data entry skills, and additional language ability especially in French is preferred.
Salary Range: $15.75 per hour
This is a full-time (35 hours a week) position. Candidates must have flexibility to work shift work, holidays and evenings. The number of weeks will range from 11- 18 weeks with positions starting in May/June 2020.
