Events Assistant
Purpose:
The Event Assistant is a full-time position that will support the Senior Event Specialist and the Event Specialist in their daily tasks. The event assistant should be motivated, punctual, hard-working, flexible in day to day assignments, maintain a positive attitude, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends if necessary.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide support with event setup and tear down
- Work with the Event Management team to manage the room bookings system
- Provide prompt communication to those reaching out with booking requests
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed. i.e Cheque Req’s, IR’s, invoices, etc.
- Manage the inventory list of event supplies ensuring all items are accounted for after each event
- Liaise with other departments in the University on event logistics and setup requirements when needed
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills in an office environment
- Self-motivated, organized individual with the ability to conform and adjust to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines promptly and efficiently
- Positive attitude and professional approach to others
- Must be comfortable lifting 25 lbs at a time and moving tables, chairs and other event furniture as needed
- Currently studying towards Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Cape Breton University
