BHTM Summer Internship 2020 – Deerhurst Resort (May – October 10th or later) – Ontario [Resort Service Attendant]

Full time Position – 40 hours

Wage: $15.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Resort Service Attendant works within the Housekeeping department operation providing support and assistance in cleaning guest rooms, public areas and all other duties assigned to allow a better understanding of how the Resort runs from the Heart of the House.  Better known internally as the RSA program, our hosts in this position have an opportunity to participate in our CROSS TRAINING PROGRAM with the opportunity to work in other positions and departments such as Food & Beverage, Recreation, Golf, Grounds, Front Desk and Kitchen. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to participate in our mentorship program, team building events and monthly discussions with our General Manager and other Sr. Leaders within our company, also participating in strategic planning and development.

Upon successful completion of the RSA program a positive reference and recommendation letter will be provided by the General Manager, personalized to the individual.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Clean assigned guestrooms including: dusting, making beds, soiled linen removal from rooms, and retrieval of clean linen from linen closets, vacuuming, bathroom cleaning, inside window cleaning, replenish rooms with supplies
  • Sign in and out master keys daily
  • Return and tag all lost and found articles in the Housekeeping Office
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures and service standards
  • Report necessary maintenance items
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies
  • Flexible with scheduling and a desire to cross train in other departments
  • All other duties assigned within Rooms Division

 Qualifications:

  • High school education
  • Enrolled in Hospitality, Tourism program at  College or University Program  level is an asset
  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Valid G Driver’s license is an asset
  • Physically fit and able to work well under pressure
  • Able to work well independently with little Supervision
  • To work laterally with departments to convey concerns and come to solutions
  • Able to adapt in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Must be able to make decisions individually and show problem solving ability
  • Guest oriented with a sincere, helpful, caring and friendly personality

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

Visa Requirements: Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Housing:

Furnished host accommodation available minutes from the resort $17 per day all inclusive
