BHTM Summer Internship 2020 – Deerhurst Resort (May – October 10th or later) – Ontario [Housekeeping Supervisor]

Full time Position – 40 hours

Wage: $18.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor position will conduct inspections of guest rooms and public areas.  The Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring room attendants clean rooms in accordance to the room cleaning standards.  These experiences will refine and develop the skills necessary for colleagues to assume a Housekeeping Manager role.  The supervisors will work closely with the Executive Housekeeper and become a primary resource for them.  The Housekeeping Supervisor will work closely with the Engineering Team by reporting any deficiencies and ensure tasks are completed.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Recognizes and greets all guests and team members first
  • Provides responsive and empathetic service to guests and colleagues
  • Responds in a timely manner to any and all guest concerns ensuring guest needs are met and followed-up as required
  • Is comfortable with and adheres to Housekeeping Standard Operating Policies in place
  • Act as a role model for others. Demonstrates professional work habits, a commitment to quality service, excellent grooming and effective cooperation
  • Ensure inspections of guest rooms and public areas, carpets, exterior windows & patios
  • Ensure VIP, Special Guests & Owners Units are inspected
  • Liaison with Engineering & Front Office to ensure preventative maintenance FF&E placement/repair & special projects are completed to standard
  • Support hotel policies and procedures including the promoting and participation in Health and Safety, Environmental and Guest Service initiatives
  • Pass on guest lost and found to Housekeeping Office
  • Must wear proper uniform and nametag at all times in accordance with the Standards of Appearance.
  • Must have cell phone or radio when leaving the office to ensure communication with the office.
  • Must complete room inspections and update the rooms charts at end of day
  • Complete all other duties as assigned

  • Has effective communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Has exceptional phone manner

  • Is flexible with their schedule, able to work long hours, shift work, evenings, weekends and holidays as business levels require
  • Ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction
  • Deal effectively with any guest comments and or / complaints

Education & Experience

  • Previous housekeeping experience in a hospitality setting preferred previous room attendant
  • High school diploma an asset
  • Valid Ontario “G” class license preferred with a clean driving record

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Able to move up and down stairs occasionally
  • Able to work outdoors in seasonal temperatures
  • Able to drive at night
  • Able to lift, carry & move constantly 11 to 29 pounds, frequently 30 to 49 pounds, occasionally 50 to 75 pounds

Housing:

Furnished host accommodation available minutes from the resort $17 per day all inclusive

Visa Requirements: Must be eligible to work in Canada.
