Accounting Clerk – Halifax Port Authority

At this time, the Halifax Port Authority requires a:

Accounting Clerk (6-month term)

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the Accounting Clerk processes accounts payable and performs general clerical duties. The duties may include, but are not limited to, processing supplier invoices for payment, preparing disbursement of funds through EFT, online banking, ACH and wires, maintaining the accounts payable subledger and contracts ledger, completing monthly accruals, creating journal entries, and completing monthly pre-authorized debits for parking and rent payments.

The successful candidate must have successfully completed Grade 12 and have completed some introductory level accounting courses. Three (3) years accounting-related experience or equivalent education and experience and good knowledge of electronic data processing systems (i.e. Excel, computer accounting systems) is required. General knowledge of purchasing procedures would be an asset.

The successful candidate will be subject to successfully completing a physical examination, must pass and maintain a Criminal Record Check and must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Marine Transportation Security Clearance (MTSC).

This is a unionized position with a starting salary of $46,191 per annum.
