Under the supervision of a teacher, you will use games and other activities to motivate students to learn more about their second language. You will have the opportunity to share your culture, drawing from your personal experiences. You will share the unique linguistic features of your home region through art, music, stories, local expressions, and humour. You’ll be a role model and help students to broaden their knowledge of Canada, while developing a passion for language learning; all while having fun!

About our opportunity

In this position you will support and motivate students in the elementary, intermediate, or high school level as they learn English or French. Another one of your tasks will be to organize cultural activities designed to help students discover their second language and encourage them to continue learning and improving, emphasizing fluency in speech. You’ll also support teachers by organizing activities such as improvisation, quizzes, plays, and debates to help students discover and appreciate English/French language and Anglophone/Francophone culture.

About you

  • You must be proficient in English or French, both oral and written.
  • You must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident. Those studying in Canada on student visas are not eligible.
  • You must have completed (within the last 10 years) at least one year of postsecondary studies by June of the coming year.
  • Experience working with youth is an asset (e.g., extracurricular, school or camp setting)
  • Travel experience is an asset
