Research Assistant, Medical Campus Implementation

Job Description

The Research Assistant will support the work of the Cape Breton Medical Campus implementation team, as well as area leads, through directed research, report writing, presentation development, and task management.

Duties
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the implementation team and area leads to achieve implementation milestones in support of the Cape Breton Medical Campus.

Duties include, but are not limited to: engaging in primary and secondary research in the areas of program curriculum, student affairs, and infrastructure, among others; conducting environmental scans and gap analysis; preparing summaries and reports based on primary and secondary research; developing presentations and/or handouts for diverse audiences; assisting in project management tracking using Microsoft Lists, as well as other tools (like Excel); assisting in project reporting; and other tasks as required to implement the medical campus.

Learning Outcomes

The successful applicant will: enhance their capacity to work in a collaborative environment; develop their knowledge of postsecondary education and student affairs/services; hone their research and writing/presentation skills; and expand their project management and reporting experience.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of post-secondary study.
  • Experience conducting primary and secondary research.
  • Experience writing research-based reports.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including in-person, through email, and on the telephone.
  • Organized and efficient worker; able to keep track of multiple projects and tasks.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with basic office software, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, and online search skills (using Google and databases).
