Event Assistant, Marketing, Communications & Recruitment

The Event Assistant will work with the Cape Breton University Events Team on various internal and external events and conferences.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in event set ups and take downs
  • Organize event and conference material
  • Keep inventory of event and conference material
  • Assist with room booking system when required
  • Assist with event execution and overall promotion CBU experience

Qualifications:

  • Organized
  • Knowledgeable about the CBU campus and locations
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, detailed oriented
  • Ability to multitask
  • Being enrolled Bachelor of Hospitality & Tourism Management program is an asset but not necessary

Cape Breton University’s Work Study Program is an on-campus employment program open to full time, current/returning students who are in good academic standing.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Read and then create a BEO, banquet event order
  • Properly set a space for various events, taking into consideration presenter’s needs, catering, health and safety guidelines
  • Schedule multiple events at one time and how to prioritize task lists
