WINTER 2024 WORK STUDY: Junior Marketing Specialist

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Junior Marketing Specialist will support the development and execution of CBU’s out of home marketing strategy. The Junior Marketing Specialist will be responsible for conducting outreach to community organizations on Cape Breton Island, with potential to expand outreach to the mainland of Nova Scotia. This outreach will involve identifying potential organizations and community centres where CBU can build brand awareness such as sponsorship, signage or other branding. The Junior Marketing Specialist will also be responsible for inquiring about pricing and creative policy.

Roles / Responsibilities:

– Conduct outreach via email or phone to community organizations, centres and businesses to inquire about potential branding opportunities on Cape Breton Island such as hockey rinks, arenas, schools, shopping malls, community halls, etc.
– Curate and nurture a spreadsheet of identified community organizations, centres and businesses and their information (address, contact information, main point of contact, hours of operation, etc).
– Keep track of pricing and creative policy associated with identified organizations.
– Identify any other out of home marketing opportunities on Cape Breton Island.
– Build proposed budget required to implement strategy.

Must be enrolled in full-time studies at Cape Breton University and in good academic standing.
