Permanent Position

Environmental Property Manager & Eco-Educator – DEADLINE JAN 20, 2022

The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts’ Environmental Property Manager and Eco-Educator works closely with staff to ensure the property is maintained throughout the seasons; plans and manages the kitchen and public gardens in collaboration with the executive director, chef, and gardener; coordinates volunteers in the landscape and with the kitchen; researches, develops, and implements lesson plans for observational learning-based environmental education and food awareness for all ages; coordinates with the needs of the various programs to make a spectacular environmental campus for our art camps, workshops festivals, and the live outdoor theatre produced by Two Planks and a Passion Theatre; maintains trails and researches and develops expansion of trails, facilities, and gardens, always with aesthetics in mind; maintains equipment; ensures safety standards; meets or exceeds aesthetic and production goals. Is responsible for monitoring our carbon footprint and other ways to improve our climate change mitigation plans.

The Environmental Property Manager and Eco-Educator helps ensure visitors are made to feel welcome and comfortable from their first visit to their last look down the driveway as the sun sets over the property. This is a full-time salaried position.

The candidate needs to be under thirty due to funding considerations. Starting salary $32,000 plus benefits

Summer CO-OP Position

Financial and Administrative Assistant

Working with our Managing Director, this person will do daily bookkeeping, payroll, deductions and remittances, as well as union deductions, and all earned, public and private income, bank reconciliations and all associated activity connected to the best practices in non profit accounting. They will work on year- end as soon as they begin and work under our Managing Director to ensure proper controls and cash flow management. The financial and resource coordinator will also work closely with the visitor service coordinator to ensure good communication with camp families, audiences and the staff and artists. They will do one evening per week in the theatre box office and gain experience with the public and programming as well as bookkeeping and resource management.

Summer CO-OP Position

Camp Cook – Nutritionist

Working with our permanent chef, the camp cook will develop and implement a nutritious and appropriate menu for a variety of clients, from the pickiest young eater to a demanding adult audience. Working with other staff and guiding volunteers, the cook will work with our gardener to take advantage of our substantial organic gardens, learn to work with local suppliers whenever possible to provide excellent nutrition, taste, and education about healthy and delicious local food. Our camp cook will learn to bake and to coordinate a busy kitchen in conjunction with our senior chef, to do nutritional analysis of our menu, and to provide alternatives for those with allergies or other dietary requirements. The camp cook will work with the chef to ensure that all kitchen and food service areas meet and or exceed the standards set out by Ross Creek and the Food Safety Section of the Department of Agriculture, ensuring all those under supervision do the same.

Summer CO-OP Position

Visitor Services

Working with other staff and volunteers, the Visitor Service Coordinator will be the front-line staff welcoming camp families, audiences, artists and visitors to Ross Creek. From the moment they pick up the phone, email or personally welcome someone, they are an ambassador for the theatre and the centre. The visitor service coordinator will become a communicator, excellent at public relations and problem-solving, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the whole Ross Creek community.

Responsible for taking and coordination registrations for camp, and box office bookings for the theatre, managing the box office for all shows and ensuring the comfort and safety of patrons and guests, the visitor services coordinator will also work with our marketing committee to engage our community and increase our earned revenue while ensuring that sensitive information is appropriately handled and communicated with necessary parties. It is an exciting and meaningful position that has huge impact on the position of Ross Creek in the community’s imagination.

Summer CO-OP Position

Programming Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized leader to join us as a Programming Assistant for the 2022 Summer Season. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the arts, love working with the public (especially youth) and has an invested interest in making the Ross Creek cultural experience the best EVER! The Program Assistant will help us also plan forward, coordinating events, developing workshops, carrying out evaluations, assisting in the planning of residencies and gallery exhibits, arts rentals, etc. This must all be done in accordance with our COVID protocols and planning. They will work closely with the Executive Director and Creative Arts Education Director to both ensure the highest standards of program development and implementation.

Summer Position

Camp Leader

The Camp Leader lives on-site for the summer from Sunday through Friday, and is responsible to plan, coordinate and implement camp games, field trips and evening programs. The Camp Leader will accomplish administrative functions for the Camp and support to the Camp Counsellors and junior staff to ensure that the programs functions efficiently on a day to day basis.

Camp Leaders:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times
  • Promote and maintain RCCA policies and procedures
  • Create and maintain a positive camp environment
  • Plan and implement games and spirit activities to foster enjoyment and self-esteem.
  • Assist Education Director, Camp Counsellors and Instructors as necessary
  • Maintain meaningful communication with camp staff, instructors and families

Summer Position

Gardener

Ideal for an environmental scientist or a horticulture student, the gardener works under the supervision of our environmental educator, following a plan for our large organic gardens & working in a team of staff & volunteers to grow & harvest food for our camps, & to educate youth about food security & reduction of food waste. They will keep accurate records on our digital systems & track our yields & also ensure beautification of the property for visitors. They will learn from our property manager to develop a beautiful & productive food garden, as well as best practices for pollination, etc. They will ensure that our COVID protocols & practices are adhered to, & will work with our youth leaders, volunteers, & other staff to ensure a great working environment and a great garden!

Summer Position

Box Office Coordinator

Working with other staff and volunteers, the Box Office Coordinator will be the front-line staff welcoming audiences to the performances of Two Planks and a Passion Theatre. Responsible for setting up the box office and supporting the production until the performances begin, they will liaise with Visitor Services and Theatre staff, serve patrons, lead them to the shows and do box office reconciliations each evening.

It’s a great way to support the theatre while engaging with the public in a lovely and meaningful way.

Communications Coordinator – DEADLINE Feb 1, 2022

The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts Communications Coordinator is a smart, dynamic person who is excited about sharing the work of Ross Creek and Two Planks and a Passion with the world!

We need someone who has good design and photography skills, and knowledge of Creative Suite and best practices for social media, we are looking for someone who wants to build awareness of our work through all means possible that align with our mission and values. You’ll develop sponsorships, nurture partnerships and do all in house design while also making sure we have great media presence, all on a scrappy non profit budget, so ingenuity and creativity are key! You will be joining an amazing team

Candidates must love the arts an theatre and be excited about getting to know and live in our community (within 30 minute drive). We value a sense of humour and great teamwork while also being really engaged and eager to take initiative and learn. Curiosity is a great quality in all our team, and we support each other in everything we do.
