Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board, Nova Scotia Timber Loan Board and Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture Loan Board

 

Agriculture and Fisheries Crown Lending Agencies (CLA) is made up of three lending boards that help Nova Scotia businesses by lending them funds to help grow, expand, innovate, and sustain the agriculture, food, forest, fisheries and aquaculture industries.  All three boards have been working for decades to make sure the primary sectors we support are financially stable by providing short, medium, and long-term loans at fair interest rates.

About Our Opportunity

 

The Crown Lending Summer Assistant will be working with Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board, Nova Scotia Timber Loan Board and Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture Loan Board to assist with the daily operations.

Primary Accountabilities

 

The Crown Lending Summer Assistant will be:

 

  • Working as part of a team of professionals to help clients and build the Nova Scotia agriculture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture industries.
  • Exploring and learning about Lending, Risk and Financial teams within Crown Lending.
  • Working with clients in all three industries, connecting with current and potential clients to learn about their businesses, visit their farms, forestry or seafood operations.

 

You may also have the opportunity to learn about other divisions in the department of Agriculture.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

To be successful candidate, you have complete a minimum of Grade 10, are enrolled in high school or a post-secondary institute and will be returning to school in Fall 2022 or next applicable semester.

You self-identify as African Nova Scotian.

Working Conditions

 

You will need to be able to work from 8:00 AM to 4:30PM, Monday to Friday.

You will be working in a team setting with staff in our Bible Hill office, as well as in our three regional offices.

Most of the work is done in an office setting, but there will be opportunity for trips to farms, processors, and boat shops.

Pay Grade:  HOURLY

Salary Range:  $14.47 – $27.30 Hourly
