WOODLANDS SUMMER STAFF – Summer 2023 – Southern NB

The Woodlands Division is looking to hire a team of energetic and motivated student leaders for our summer programs across our operating regions.

Your Opportunities:
Crew Chief: Crew chiefs are the leaders of our Planting program, managing a group of peers in one of the most challenging work environments there is. This a role that is best suited to those with previous silviculture experience and are highly organized.
  • They are responsible for the health & safely of a group of 10-15 tree planters and support staff
  • Leading and documenting mandatory safety talks and stretching each morning
  • Meeting or exceeding quality and production targets
  • Transporting workers to and from work sites
  • Accurate and timely Payroll entry
  • Constantly working to improve their jobsites and dealing with any conflicts within their work group. 

Tree Care: Tree Care is a pivotal role in our planting operations. They are what keeps the operation moving, they deliver trees to planters via Backpack harness, ATV or Skidder. This role is extremely physically demanding in nature- carrying upwards of 80lbs across uneven terrain, operation of water pumps etc. This is a great summer position for a student from any discipline who is looking for a rewarding summer role outdoors. 

  • Maintain integrity of seedlings- thoroughly watered, neatly stored, tarped when required etc.
  • Setting up Tree caches in blocks ahead of planting operation
  • Utilization of equipment such as ATVs, and Skidders (training provided)
  • Stacking and wrapping of empty trays for collection.
  • Conducting Daily safety equipment checks
  • Supporting the crew chief when requested.
Auditors: Auditors are another piece in ensuring we are meeting or exceeding our plantation establishment standards. They assess quality, density and ensure accurate mapping of plantations. This would be an exciting opportunity for anyone who has an interest in Accounting, Finance, Business, GIS, or Forestry who also likes to be outdoors. 
  • Data collection behind either company or contractor crews in a timely manner (less than 48hrs)
  • Follows all best practices in relation to data collection
  • Fairly represents the company and worker by remaining unbiased
  • Submission of records regularly, they are what is used to validate pay for planters
  • Supporting the operation as requested, when needed.
