Summer 2021 Co-op: Marketing Student Intern – Canadian Coast Guard College

Position:              Student Intern (Marketing/Recruitment)

Reporting To:     Senior Recruitment Officer/Social Media Outreach Officer, Canadian Coast Guard College

Location:             Canadian Coast Guard College, 1190 Westmount Road, Sydney, NS

Term:                    May – August  (approximately 16 weeks)

The Canadian Coast Guard College (CCGC) is a world leader in the field of maritime studies and the national training centre for the Canadian Coast Guard.  A key program is the Canadian Coast Guard Officer Training Program.  This is a four-year training program and is considered one of the best marine training programs in the world, producing both Marine Engineering Officers and Marine Navigation Officers.

The CCGC has a unique opportunity for marketing/recruitment intern to assist with the marketing and promotion of the College.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with an interest in recruitment, social media marketing and event coordination.  The successful applicant will work with our recruitment team in developing and coordination of recruitment events and promotional material.  This will be a unique opportunity to enhance marketing skills and to also develop an understanding and build experience working within the public sector.

Duties:

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of recruitment events(i.e Canadian Coast Guard College Open House).
  • Assist with the preparation of promotional material and recruitment presentations.
  • Represent the Canadian Coast Guard College at recruiting events(including representing the CCGC as Echo, our college mascot).
  • Work with our graphic designer to create engaging social media and promotional graphics for events and campaigns.
  • Assist in the development of marketing opportunities using social media channels.
  • Assist with the coordination videography initiatives for social media.
  • Work closely with the Social Media Outreach Officer to create content for the College website and national Coast Guard newsletter.
  • Respond to inquiries from potential applicants.
  • Prepare and compile reports and statistical information relating to various recruitment events.

 

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Students must be enrolled in a Co-op program.

Experience:

Experience using MS Word, Excel and Power Point

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the Canadian Coast Guard College
  • Knowledge marketing, promotion and event planning

Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate verbally
  • Ability to communicate in writing (cover letter will be used to assess this qualification)

Personal Suit abilities:

  • Judgement
  • Initiative
  • Teamwork

Assets:

  • Previous Government work experience
  • Ability to communicate in French would be an asset.
