As part of the Capital Projects team focused on project cost control, the Junior Business Analyst will be responsible to:

  • Review the monthly forecasts provided by cost analysts and update Project Status reporting for team meetings;
  • Support budget/forecasting requirements;
  • Prepare and maintain monthly accrual list;
  • Run monthly PO report;
  • Send invoices for approval and complete receiving;
  • Reconcile daily invoices on hold report;
  • Work with business representatives on process review and analytics to identify Continuous Improvement opportunities;
  • Develop standards, training and communication documentation with direction from the project coordinator;
  • Conduct basic data analysis and assessment of data quality;
  • Assist with other business improvement activities and business tasks as assigned;
  • Have a willingness to learn basic Project Management and assist Project Managers with project tasks.

Other duties as time permits are organizing electronic records, reviewing contracts, and closing projects (Work Orders, Finance and Admin).

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

  • Must be working towards a post-secondary degree in Business or other related discipline;
  • Experience and proficiency with entire MS Office suite, particularly Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, merging and master sheets) together with strong analytical, data, and math skills;
  • Experience with MS SharePoint is an asset;
  • Must have excellent writing skills;
  • Must have strong business and personal communication skills;
  • Must have strong attention to detail and prioritization skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills, with good problem-solving approach;
  • Self-starter; must be able to meet deliverables with minimal supervision.

Reports to: Manager Hydro and Thermal Capital Projects

Salary: To commensurate with qualifications and experience.
