SUMMER 2024 CO-OP: Public Relations Assistant – Atlantic Central

Atlantic Central is currently accepting applications for a Public Relations Assistant for the summer co-op term.

The Public Relations Assistant reports to the Consultant, Communications and Change Management and provides support to the Communications and Change Management Department. 



Advance your public relations skills as a key member of the communications and change management department. 


  • Assist with writing and distributing communications including organizational updates, regional updates, key messages, website content, and social media.   
  • Write and edit communication materials to support various internal and external projects for print and digital platforms.  
  • Assist with the planning of Atlantic Central’s annual fall strategy conference that includes 200 delegates from credit unions and other partner organizations in Atlantic Canada and across the country. 
  • Support relations with stakeholders including Atlantic Central’s executive leadership team, credit union leaders, and external consultants.  
  • Participate in regular department meetings and planning sessions.  
  • Manage and organize department files and folders.  
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned. 




This position offers the ability to work remotely and services Atlantic Canada. 



As the ideal candidate you will be working towards completing a degree in Business or Public Relations and have completed at least your second year of study or have prior post-secondary education. You must also be a participant in the university’s Co-op program.  



To be successful as the Public Relations Assistant you possess the following skills: 

  • Strong oral and written communication  
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Experience conducting research and identifying key information 
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office  



This is a 16-week co-op term position with a 37.5 hour work week. Business hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The term for this position is May 13, 2024 to August 30, 2024. 



This position will be paid hourly at $23.50 an hour plus vacation pay.
