Job Overview:
Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Research Coordinator, the Research Administrative Assistant supports the oversight of clinical research projects. The Research Administrative Assistant contributes to one or more health research studies by assisting with study administration, ordering and maintaining research and office supplies, organizing documentation and records keeping in compliance with appropriate policies and regulations, providing general administrative support, booking clinic, office, and meeting space, and by maintaining study data.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Completes Case Report Forms in conjunction with the PI and/or Manager and/or Clinical Research Coordinator
- Processes and submits forms to multiple Research Ethics Board (REB) in compliance with submission guidelines
- Prepares research supplies and/or specimens for shipment
- Contacts study subjects to book tests, assessments and appointments, and books appropriate physical space for each visit
- May assist the Clinical Research Coordinator in administering and recording results for study tests (eg. Assessments, questionnaires, screening medical records)
- Assists with subject screening through questionnaires and liaising with healthcare workers and the Clinical Research Coordinator
- Maintains study participant database and master data set for interested study participants
- Acts as a point of contact and professional representative of the PI and Centre of Excellence for Healthy Aging by providing information or direction when monitoring telephone calls, emails, faxes and/or in-person inquiries
- Replies to routine correspondence and composes and edits letters, documents and general memoranda
- Orders, maintains and monitors office supplies for each study
- Attends, records and distributes minutes for meetings
- Faxes, photocopies, books rooms, catering and meetings and other related clerical functions
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing mail and arranges for courier services
- Keeps track of receipts and budget for research/study expenses
- Acquires signatures for study related documents
- Assists with the completion of time sheets for Clinical Research Coordinators and Research Assistants
- Collects, enters and maintains data related to study
- Maintains filing systems for subject and study documentation in accordance with ICH-GCP principles and institutional/REB policies
- Files study documents, test results, etc.
- Tracks information through checklists, databases and spreadsheets
- Archives documentation related to study once it has closed and develops and maintains a method of retrieval from storage.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Some completion of post-secondary education is required.
- Current CBU Student in good Academic Standing
- A bachelor’s degree is considered an asset.
- Previous training in ICH-GCP/Division 5 considered an asset.
- Previous experience in submitting applications to IRB/REB considered an asset.
- A minimum 1 year experience (education or training) in a research environment is required.

Hours:
- Term Position, Hours vary per research project
- Wages: $17.50/hour – $22.50/hour depending on experience and education
