Job Intro

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Cape Breton is seeking an Office Manager who is able to provide bookkeeping using the Sage 50 accounting program administrative duties. This person will report to the Associate and Executive Directors. We operate between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. There may be the occasional after hours meetings the Office Manager will be responsible to attend. The office manager will monitor the gathering of statistics for the organization.

Typical Work Day

  • Utilize Sage Simply Accounting to complete payroll, accounts payable and receivable, complete CRA remittances, and bank reconciliations
  • Update records and forecast spending for the next month, quarter or year
  • Keep organization aligned with provincial and federal tax laws
  • Research account transactions to identify and resolve discrepancie
  • Prepare communication reports, statements, forms, applications and other documents as required
  • Respond to telephone, in-person or electronic inquiries and forward information to the appropriate individual
  • Photocopy and collate documents for sharing, mailing, and filing
  • Sort and file documents, locate and retrieve documents from files; maintain records
  • Operate telephone system, fax machine, photocopier and scanner as required
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies as required, arrange for office equipment servicing
  • Complete weekly payroll, bookkeeping, preparing invoices and bank deposits
  • Maintaining accounts receivable and payable
  • Complete Canada Revenue remittances
  • Gather documentation and work alongside auditors to complete annual revenue
