Environmental Field Technicians (2 positions)

Term positions of 12 months

Under the direction of the Fisheries Manager, this is a position that will focus on
environmental stewardship. Enhancing the environmental health of the Sipekne’katik district
watersheds and habitat restoration for the next 7 generations

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Develop a general understanding and researching aquatic species, terrestrial
species, and Species at Risk.
• Conduct research and develop educational materials for Species at Risk, Oceans
management and/or Indigenous protected areas.
• Plan and attend community events/outreach activities
• Provide monthly reports on all activities to the Fisheries Manager
• Create workplans for restoration work and follow workplan schedules
• Data collection and Fish assessments
• Habitat assessment/inventory
• Develop education material
• Order plants for stream/shoreline
• Perform manual labour
• Walk, dig, and plant along shore
• Other related duties as determined by Supervisor.

• Must have college diploma or post secondary degree in environment, climate change,
natural resource management or related field, along with experience in the field.
• A combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Must be dependable, a team player and able to work unsupervised.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and flexible to work in any weather conditions,
• A Criminal records check is required. A criminal record is not a determining factor.
• Valid drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle.

Salary range – Negotiable based upon education and experience.
