Job Description:

As our Operations Assistant, you will co-ordinate the administrative and marketing aspects of the business for effective outcomes.  You will help to identify, source and facilitate availability of suitable personnels, equipment, materials and other required items. You will assist in the marketing of the business products and services, to enhance sales within Canada and export markets. You will be well-versed in social media promotion, marketing, sales channel development, and brand image cultivation. You are to ensure timely compliance with applicable regulatory remittances, permits, and licenses, with effective records keeping.

You will work full-time (40 hours/week) on an annual salary of $38,400 — $40,320 depending on your education and experience.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to:

  • Identify and organize personnel, materials, and resources for effective operations.
  • Source new customers and markets for the products both within and outside Canada.
  • Ensure timely compliance with applicable remittances, permits, and licenses.
  • Develop and execute innovative marketing strategies.
  • Enhance brand visibility and sales through effective use of social media platforms.
  • Identify and develop new sales channels.
  • Shape and maintain the brand image in alignment with our mission and values.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure consistent brand messaging.
  • Handle effective record keeping.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time (40 hours/week) in an open-concept office/manufacturing environment
  • Flexibility in working hours and/or days may be required to meet deadlines.
  • Office location: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada

Requirements and Qualifications:

We require you to have a college degree and/or appropriate qualifications/certificates in business-related fields, with proven experience in marketing, particularly in social media sales channel development, brand building and digital marketing. You should be competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, have strong organizational skills and capacity to work with minimal supervision. Proven experience in marketing, particularly in social media and sales channel development with strong understanding of brand building and digital marketing.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. You should be a good team player, passionate for start-up businesses, self-motivated, creative and innovative. You should be willing to work flexible hours and days, as may be necessary to meet job deadlines.

Familiarity with local cultural dynamics; knowledge of Mi’kmaq or African Nova Scotian cultures, with a large industry-related network, knowledge of the local community and potential export markets are needed.
