Research Assistant Opportunity
Description
We are looking to hire a research assistant to support a count of people experiencing homelessness and living in insecure housing situations in the Strait Area and Richmond County. Duties will include engaging with community organizations, helping with participant recruitment, training activities (including speaking in front of groups), data collection, data entry and cleaning, and basic quantitative data analysis.
Qualifications
Job applicants should be a university or community college student, with excellent English communication skills (including writing), some experience working or volunteering with community-based organizations, and experience working with MS Word and Excel. Applicants should be approachable, good listeners, and comfortable engaging in various community and organizational settings with people they have not met before. Applicants must also be able to work independently.
Work Term and Wage
The applicant must be available to work between May and November, 2021. The hours of work will vary, but will average 10 hours/week. Wage will be $14-20 per hour, commensurate with experience and education level.
Work Environment
As this project requires engagement with local organizations at various stages, applicants must have the ability to work locally, Strait area and Richmond County in addition to remotely (online). Engagement activities will require availability during the typical work week (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday). The successful applicant will report to the research team.
