Domestic Recruitment-University Relations

PURPOSE

CBU (Cape Breton University) Student Ambassadors are student representatives and brand ambassadors for Cape Breton University. As a student ambassador, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Domestic Recruitment Team both in the office and off campus for local recruitment initiatives and events. This position will work closely with our staff in the CIBC Student Welcome Centre. Student ambassadors can obtain up to 20 hours a week, but these hours will fluctuate week to week depending on the needs of the department. Student class schedules will, however, be taken into consideration when scheduling shifts.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES

Campus Tours

Student Ambassadors lead and schedule Campus Tours. As a campus tour lead, you would show potential students and their supporters around the CBU campus. Tours consist of both one on one and large groups.

Administrative Tasks

Responsibilities would include but are not limited to, answering inquiries via phone, helping with administrative tasks, logging swag inventory, supporting the Ambassador Platform, managing and answering inquiries from prospective students, and responding to email inquiries regarding CBU program offerings.

Events and Student Recruitment

Help with planning and execution of all on campus events hosted by Domestic Recruitment along with attending many on campus events hosted by other departments. Student Ambassadors would also attend recruitment events with our recruiters in the community and at local schools.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be enrolled at Cape Breton University and in good academic standing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a good working relationship with other ambassadors and university employees
  • Good judgement skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Feel capable speaking positively about your own CBU student experience
  • Ability to work non-traditional working hours
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be familiar with all popular social media platforms and comfortable managing their own ‘Connect With A Student Ambassador’ profile
  • Comfortability speaking in front of small groups
  • Weekend availability is an asset

HOURS: 15-20 hours a week

TERM: Firm start date of September 3rd (with training prior, pending availability)
