Position: MRP Project Coordinator

Supervisor: Band Manager

Location: Potlotek First Nation

Employment Term: Part time/flexible hours

Matrimonial Real Property Project:
The project is to draft a Matrimonial Real Property law for the Potlotek First Nation. A MRP
law relates to the division or transfer of real property (family homes) upon separation or
death. The law will be drafted by a committee of stakeholders and community
representatives.

It is essential that the new law is reflective of the community needs, values and interests.
Therefore, Potlotek community members will have direct input into the law through a
number of community engagement sessions and strategies.
The MRP Project will be managed by the UNSM Governance Manager who is responsible to
the Potlotek First Nation.

Responsibilities:
● Assist the UNSM Governance Manager prepare for and administer drafting meetings and
community engagement sessions.
o Activities include but are not limited to:
▪ Venue selection
▪ Organizing catering for the group
▪ Preparation of information/materials
▪ Reporting both verbally and in writing to all stakeholders

● Promotional strategy development and execution
o Activities include but are not limited to:
▪ Social media, video, email, phone, print material, newsletters, handouts,
posters and other communication methods

Requirements:
● Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends on occasion).
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Proficient with Email, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
● Strong communication skills including ability to present complex information.
● Knowledge of Indigenous and/or Mi’kmaw communities/organizations an asset.
● Ability to speak and/or understand the Mi’kmaw language is an asset.
● Travel and access to a reliable vehicle an asset.
