Marine Atlantic is currently looking for Chauffeurs to work with our Terminal Operations located in North Sydney, NS. These positions are spare and relief. Candidates can expect to work on an on-call basis.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Work diligently to promote a safe working environment
  • Provide a high level of customer service.
  • Transport passengers and employees to and from terminal and vessel.
  • Check passenger tickets prior to entering shuttle bus and ensure tickets are properly embarked.
  • Assist passengers with their baggage and load and prepare baggage van for delivery to vessel.
  • Record passenger baggage on manifest sheet.
  • Gather, sort and deliver mail for all locations around terminal and other local Marine Atlantic properties.
  • Keep shuttle bus clean and complete necessary pre-inspection reports.
  • Maintain the shuttle bus area and passengers exits, ensuring they are free of snow and ice.
  • Collect bills from ticket booths on a regular basis and deliver to required locations.
  • Pick up material and deliver to office staff, supervisors and other work areas.
  • Assist the Terminal Assistant in cleaning the terminal building.
  • Assist in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as required.

What qualifications do I need to be considered for this opportunity?

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 4 Driver’s License.
  • Ability to deal with the general public in a professional manner displaying excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift, handle and carry heavy objects up to 22.3 kg.

Asset Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of policies and government regulations concerning safety, security, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, etc.

Please Note: This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and issubject to the provisions of Marine Atlantic’s Drug and Alcohol Policy whichincludes, but not limited to pre-employment testing. We have a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol, cannabis, and illicit drugs. These positions are unionized and the successful candidates will become members of the United Steelworkers Union. Candidates should live within commuting distance from the terminal.

Hourly Rate: $27.078
