We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Student to join our Corporate Procurement Team in Saint John, New Brunswick supporting the J.D. Irving, Limited group of companies.

The Procurement group is a strategic partner with our internal businesses across a number of industries, including manufacturing and transportation. We use the latest technology and procurement techniques to acquire goods, services and capital purchases for the best value. This role provides exposure to entry level purchasing, contract negotiation, and procurement processes. Within the department there is also a team devoted to process improvement initiatives.

This is the Right Work Term for You if You Have:

  • Education Required:
    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Business degree program, or Industrial Engineering degree program
    • In good academic standing
  • A passion for procurement and negotiation with a drive to learn new systems and processes
  • Long term interest in a procurement career and in pursuing a Procurement Designation (e.g. SCMP, CPSM or MCIPS)
  • Superior analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to comfortably communicate with vendors
  • High energy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Team Player
  • Attention to detail

What You Can Expect During Your Work Term:

  • Sourcing goods and materials for various J.D. Irving, Limited companies
  • Meeting with vendors to negotiate new contracts, renew existing contracts, and re-evaluate under-performing vendors
  • Analyzing corporate spend
  • Contract drafting, negotiation and compliance monitoring
  • Measuring, monitoring and managing supplier relationships
