Applications are invited from current students interested in offering for the hired position of Vice President Student Services for 2024/2025 (June 2024 to Apr. 30/25). Applicants for the VP Student Services positions must be:
- Enrolled in a minimum of 3-3 credit courses in both the September to December 2024 and January to April 2025 semesters.
Description:
- The VPSS shall maintain a close liaison with the Residence Manager and associated residence staff to enhance student housing both on and off-campus for students.
- The VPSS will organize tenancy workshops during new student intake times, to educate students on their tenancy rights.
- The VPSS shall liaise with the Off-Campus Housing Coordinator, as well as research available listings, to provide students with information on available housing throughout the CBRM.
- The VPSS shall work diligently to respond to the diverse needs of the student population.
- The VPSS will work with Career Services to offer workshops on resume building, interview skills, and interview etiquette.
- The VPSS will actively seek out potential employment opportunities within the CBRM that are available to students. They will work with the Administrative Assistant to ensure all job opportunities are posted for student viewing on a regular basis.
- Monitoring the success of programs through follow-up with students regarding jobs and housing.
- The VPSS will work with Student Affairs on airport pick-ups during each new intake period.
- The VPSS will work with the VPFO to ensure the Food Bank is properly running and offer additional supports for students.
- The VPSS will work with the President and VPP to organize monthly Town Halls for students.
- The VPSS will sit on various committees as directed by the President.
- The VPSS will work closely with the VPP on Week of Welcome to ensure that students are informed about available services that fall within the scope of the VPSS’s job.
- The VPSS shall hold a seat on CBU Senate.
- The VPSS will be responsible for the Drive Home program.
- The VPSS shall submit a monthly report to the Students’ Representative Council.
- The VPSS shall perform other such duties as directed by the President, the Executive Committee, and the SRC.
- The VPSS will be responsible to provide an in-depth, comprehensive transition to their successor, to ensure they are properly transitioned into their new role. The VPSS will be paid an additional $250 (transition pay) for providing their successor with 15 hours of detailed training during the month of April. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in a deduction or loss of transition pay.
- The VPSS is expected to work 35 hours per week from June 1st to August 31st and 25 hours per week from September 1st to April 30
- Applicants should be living in the CBRM for at least one year.
- Applicants are required to have a valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
