Ardra Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on producing natural food ingredients. We
have an opening for an internship in the area of bioprocessing. The internship will involve the
development of fermentation and biotransformation processes for the production of high-value flavour and fragrance ingredients using engineered microorganisms. The intern will be
responsible for running biotransformation processes to optimize process parameters,
keeping records of the experiments, and evaluating data. The intern will be working closely
with the technical team under the guidance of our fermentation scientist. This position offers
an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to gain hands-on experience with
fermenter operation and apply their research skills toward sustainable processes for natural
ingredients.
An ideal intern will:
• be working towards an Undergraduate/Master’s degree in chemical engineering,
bioengineering, molecular biology, microbiology, life sciences or similar;
• have hands-on laboratory experience, including some training in microbiology and
basic molecular biology techniques;
• be organized, and able to record, analyse and present experimental data;
• willing to work in a small team and start-up environment;
• eligibility for “Biotalents Student Work Placement Program” (SWPP) is a plus, see

This internship will run for 12 months starting June 2022 with opportunities to extend to 16
months. The location of the internship is Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is a paid full-time
internship at $17-21/hr and 37.5 hr/week.
