BHTM Summer Internship: Cabot Links Houseperson

As a Houseperson, you should share a passion for service excellence and infuse enthusiasm into everything you do.  This position will work closely with the Room, Villa and Laundry Attendants to ensure that appropriate levels of linens and amenities are maintained and available for daily use.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Sign in and out master keys daily
  • Support Attendants in stripping soiled linens, towels, and removing trash from guest rooms
  • Collect dirty dishes and soiled linen from vacant/dirty guest rooms and/or supply closets and transport to laundry room
  • Clean/sanitize used dishware from rooms
  • Deliver items to guest rooms upon request by guest
  • Deliver and retrieve items on loan to guest rooms (e.g. Ice buckets, cribs, cots, etc.)
  • Maintain proper usage of cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Restock inventory of supply closets daily
  • Be environmentally aware; play an active part in departmental and company environmental practices
  • Return and properly tag all lost and found articles to the appropriate location
  • Evening duties include nightly turn-down service
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards
  • Report necessary repair items to Maintenance department, this includes but is not limited to damaged/burned out light bulbs, dripping faucets, running toilets, etc.
  • Comply with proper security, fire regulation, and all health and safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License
  • Previous housekeeping experience an asset
  • Positive attitude and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple duties under pressure
  • Ability to work flexible hours – weekends and evenings as required
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
  • Exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects
  • Occasional ascending or descending, stairs and ramps
