Full time Position – 40 hours
Wage: $17.50 per hour
Position Summary
The successful candidate must be a leader with current culinary skills, experience, and knowledge. This individual must be able to work and lead a team with a positive attitude, while demonstrating a high standard of culinary operation.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook individual dishes or entire meals
- Responsible for proper cleaning and sanitation of all work areas and all related kitchen equipment
- Ability to work with a wide variety of fresh produce and proteins and utilize all cooking methods to execute in a fast paced high volume outlet
- Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations and streamline work processes
- Work cooperatively and jointly to execute seamless guest service
- Assist Sous Chefs and Chef De Partie’s as needed
- Train and develop new culinary colleagues
- Actively share ideas, opinions, and suggestions pertaining to menu development
- Prepare all a la carte and buffet food to spec
- Effective communication skills; verbal, and written
- Develop and implement standards to enhance the food experience in keeping with food trends
- Play a part in ensuring the established standards outlined in the kitchen orientation manual are maintained on a daily basis
- Ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and supplies of the department are kept in good supply and in good repair
- Maintain positive morale within the department
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as well as monitoring fellow colleagues within the department
- Work in compliance with resort’s health and safety standards and government regulations, ensure all hosts work safely – take appropriate action when necessary
- Ensure cohesion with other colleagues and work together with stewarding associates to maintain a clean and sanitary environment
- Maintain daily temperature audits
- All other assigned duties
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar sized restaurant, hotel or resort required
- Supervisory experience an asset
- Provincial Red Seal certificate an asset
- Food safety training certificate required
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and clean driving record required
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Visa Requirements: Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Housing:
Furnished host accommodation available minutes from the resort $17 per day all inclusive
