A few key activities could include:

SP-03:

  • Verifies, analyses and assesses prescribed forms, documents, and claims from taxpayers, benefit recipients, and/or their representatives and ensures eligibility where necessary.
  • Verifies income declared by the taxpayer or benefit recipient, and where potential risks of tax avoidance or tax evasion are identified, refers the file to the appropriate work area.
  • Conduct interviews by telephone to gather and verify information, request and negotiate payment of outstanding amounts within prescribed parameters, request missing returns and provide a legal warning to taxpayers.
  • Verbally respond to telephone enquiries pertaining to system-generated letters and provide general collection and compliance information.

SP-04:

  • Responds to a variety of enquiries or requests related to tax matters, CRA administered programs and related accounts.
  • Performs various calculations to determine tax or CRA administered program requirements, elections, entitlements, or administrative relief.
  • Accepts payment arrangements where applicable and authorized, within established parameters.
  • Educates taxpayers by providing information and promoting available services.

SP-05:

  • Audit of returns, assigned in accordance with the Planning Guidelines, to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Income Tax Act and other statutes administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Virtual reporting may be possible, if operational requirements permit.

For the Bilingual positions that may be staffed from this process, candidates must be bilingual, and be able to demonstrate their capabilities to work in English and French by achieving at least a BBB/BBB rating on the Public Service Commission’s Second Language Evaluation (SLE) test. Note: For some positions that may be staffed from this process the minimum rating is CBC/CBC.

If you have previously written the SLE and require a copy of your results, you may request a copy from the Public Service Commission (PSC) at SLE Results.

Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens living abroad who are bilingual and will be graduating from a recognized or authorized post-secondary institution (e.g. college, CEGEP, university) between September 2022 and June 2023.

Preference for appointment will be given to veterans, Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements.

Education

degree or diploma from a recognized postsecondary institution received between September 2022 and June 2023

The CRA will accept foreign credentials as long as they are considered acceptable by a recognized Canadian educational institution.
