English Proficiency Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English must provide documentation to show that CBU’s English language proficiency requirements have been met.  Our full English language proficiency policy is detailed in our Academic Calendar.

Proof of English Proficiency may be provided in one of three ways:

Description: ICEAP NS is the exclusive local language training partner for Cape Breton University. The Centre is located on campus and in nearby Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and offers 8 levels of language instruction to help students prepare for successful academic careers. 3. Previous Education in English (Official documentation required):

Secondary School Successful completion of at least 2 years of academic instruction in a secondary institution, as recognized by CBU, where English is the primary language of instruction
Post-Secondary School Successful completion of at least 30 credit hours (or equivalent) at a post-secondary institution, as recognized by Cape Breton University, where English is the primary language of instruction.
