If you go to see any waterfall in Cape Breton this summer season it HAS to be the North River Falls Hiking Trail. Why is that you may ask? What is it that makes this particular waterfall so fabulous and unique? Well, it only It’s the largest waterfall in Nova Scotia!! Thats right, not just in Cape Breton but in Nova Scotia.
This enormous, breathtaking waterfall measures out to be 105 ft tall. So yeah, you guessed right. It’s going to be quite the hike.. 5-7hrs (up and back) to be exact. But don’t let that intimidate you! The trail is very well maintained with picnic tables and outhouses at the trailhead.
There are also guardrails, wooden footbridges and benches along the trail. A large map of the North River Falls trail route is displayed at the trailhead and smaller maps are along the route. And once you made it to the falls you can reward yourself by jumping into the swimming hole and relax by the falls!
