National Canadian Film Day 150 (NCFD 150), an initiative of REEL CANADA, was created as a new way to celebrate this great nation, embrace Canadian cinema, and have some FUN!

As part of NCFD the CBU Art Gallery is proud to be hosting a free film screening of the classic Cape Breton movie New Waterford Girl.

Filmed on location in New Waterford and set in the 1970s, New Waterford Girl is a comedy that centers around the attempts of Moonie (Liane Balaban) to flee the constraints of small-town life.  She befriends Lou (Tara Spencer-Nairn), the tough girl next door, who helps her cook up a plan to escape the area and pursue her dreams.
