Building Legends: The Mi’kmaq Canoe Project
Join a group of Indigenous and non-Indigenous students as they work with and film Todd Labrador, master canoe maker. Beautifully shot, this intriguing documentary takes us though the process of building one of the most iconic and vital elements of Mi’kmaq culture: the birch bark canoe.
Producer Candy Palmater (Mi’kmaq) is a Canadian comedian, international speaker and the educator of Indigenous perceptions. She is active in Native and gay rights, and is now the creator and writer of her own national TV show for APTN, The Candy Show.
A Handmade Holiday: Local Artisan Market
Monday December 5, 2011 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
CBU Art Gallery, with co-organizer Reloved Design, presents A Handmade Holiday: Local Artisans Market. The market will bring together a selection of local artisans to provide a range of handmade products to the CBU community and the general public.
Join us for this unique shopping experience to find something special for that hard-to-buy-for person on your list. Contemporary local artisans will offer a variety of handmade items including pottery, jewellery, hand bags, bath and body goods, art, baking and more! The market will have friendly price points to accomodate all budgets (you too students!).
This festive event will include complimentary refreshments and entertainment, and a fundraiser for Fishes & Loaves. Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate.
Get a jump on your holiday shopping, buy local, support artisans in our community, and help out a good cause!
